DARIEN, CT — A large majority of Connecticut towns are in low to moderate state warning levels for coronavirus infections and hospitalizations have remained steady through the fall. What remains to be seen is whether cases and hospitalizations will rise as Connecticut enters its traditional respiratory virus season. Darien had 5.3 average daily cases per 100,000 residents and a positive test rate of 1.2 percent between Oct. 24 and Nov. 6, according to the state Department of Public Health. There were 0 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It's important to note that a few cases can have a large impact on a municipal case rate, especially for small towns. About 30 towns are in the state's highest warning level for coronavirus infections, though some towns didn't have updated data in the state's weekly report. Darien recorded 16 new coronavirus cases between Nov. 4-11, according to DPH's preliminary data. Around 71.94 percent of Darien residents are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus as of Nov. 10, according to DPH.
