Description
Heath Gorham, acting police chief in Maine's largest city, isn't saying whether he's seeking the job permanently.
But Gorham is expected to be an applicant.
The 20-year veteran earlier this year succeeded Frank Clark, who resigned unexpectedly after two years on the job.
Clark's resignation came in the wake of BLM protests over police handling of civil unrest.
Vern Malloch, a career local cop who held the interim chief's job before Clark, was denied the permanent promotion and resigned shortly thereafter.
