By John Gibson, WNIN November 12, 2021 One new COVID-19 related death has been recorded in southwest Indiana. The Indiana Department of Health announced the 46th fatality of the pandemic from Spencer County on the Wednesday dashboard. No new COVID-related deaths were added in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties, but Vanderburgh did see 65 new infections. The county's positivity rate among individuals stood at just above 16 percent, with 49 more full vaccinations and 282 more booster shots. The number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell to 55. That number approached 300 in early September. Statewide on Wednesday, 16 more COVID-related deaths were tallied with more than 2,800 new cases. With COVID-19 vaccines now being given to children ages five to eleven in the Tri-State, Deaconess Health System hosted a forum about the vaccine for kids.
