First, today's weather: Partly sunny. High: 66 Low: 49. Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: A proposed redistricting map has been published that splits Sacramento in two. In the new proposal from the redistricting commission, a horizontal line runs straight through the city of Sacramento. "If you split the city up the way the commission is looking to split it up, it dilutes the power of the city," said Roger Salazar, campaign consultant for Congresswoman Doris Matsui. The commission is encouraging anyone in the public to share their thoughts on the proposed maps. The commission aims to incorporate all comments by late December. The Secretary of State must certify the maps by Dec. 27. (KCRA3) As part of the Fix50 Highway Enhancement project drivers traveling through downtown Sacramento this week should expect construction delays because of more ramp closures. The N Street on-ramp to Business 80, and connector ramps from southbound Business 80 to west and eastbound Highway 50 in downtown Sacramento are closing for the entire weekend until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15. (ABC10)The demolition has begun of the Shell petroleum tank farm in West Sacramento. West Sacramento city officials say the project is an important step in redeveloping the riverfront. "This transaction is a big step in the planned de-industrialization of West Sacramento's Pioneer Bluff District," said Yolo County Supervisor and Port Commission Chairman Oscar Villegas in a statement. (CBS Sacramento)The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity is opening to the public this weekend. The 30,000-square-foot facility houses interactive exhibits, many of which address some of California's most challenging issues like water, power and climate change. There's also a 22,000-square-foot addition that boasts classrooms, offices a café and a 120-seat "Multiverse Theater." The museum opens to the public today. All timed tickets must be reserved online in advance. (KCRA3) Two Sacramento women were arrested on charges of shooting a 17-year-old boy, robbery and prostitution. The victim told the San Rafael Police Department that he agreed to get into a car with two women he did not know. The victim said they got into an argument, during which one of the women pulled out a gun and shot him in the leg. The police department said they were able to get surveillance footage that showed the suspect vehicle and license plate. The following night, the Antioch Police Department said officers stopped a car with both suspects inside. They were booked into Marin County Jail. The victim was treated at a hospital for his injury and released. (FOX40) Saturday's events in Sacramento: North Rim Loop Hike with the Sierra Club Mother Lode Chapter. (2:00 PM) Sacramento Patch Notebook Local entrepreneur and co-founder of The Sacramento OBSERVER, John Cole, died November 1 after a life well-lived and well-travelled. Cole was 103 years old.
