Vigil For Hunger And Homelessness Sunday In Phoenixville

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A group of Phoenixville nonprofits is holding a candlelight vigil at Reeve's Park Sunday to bring awareness to hunger and homelessness. As part of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week, some nonprofits and shelters working in the Phoenixville area will come together on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. in Reeves Park to remember those who struggle with food and housing insecurity and to honor the work that the community does. "Please join us as a community in taking a pause in recognition of our neighbors who are struggling with food and shelter insecurity as well as give all of us a moment to just reflect on all that our community does to help those in need," event organizers said. There are three ways the community can participate. Option 1: Candles provided or bring your own candle.Option 2: Bring canned/dried good or pair of socks for our neighbors in need.Option 3: Stay home but take a moment at 6 p.m. to send positive thoughts to our neighbors who are struggling. "Many thanks to all our partner organizations, volunteers, and community leaders of all backgrounds for making Phoenixville such a special space providing collaborative support for our neighbors in their time of need," the organizers said. Participating nonprofits and shelters are Orion Communities, PACS, Phoenixville Women's Outreach including The House and Next Step House, Open Hearth Inc., Ann's Heart, St. Mary's Franciscan Shelter, and Good Samaritan Services. Warmth For All At Orion Communities — Need A Coat Or Other Warm Stuff? On Nov. 15 through 19 and Nov. 22, and 23 anyone in need of warm winter clothing can stop by the Orion Communities office at 237 Bridge Street. Coats, socks, gloves, and blankets will be available.
