CHICAGO — The Chicago Bulls are the city's hottest and most exciting team these days, but the timing of missing one of their starters isn't great just as the team begins a five-game West Coast swing on Thursday night. Center Nikola Vucevic is expected to miss up to 10 days after being placed on the Bulls' health and safety protocol list, according to multiple reports Thursday. The Athletic cited sources saying Vucevic has tested positive for the coronavirus. ESPN said that Vucevic will miss either the 10 days or until he can test negative for COVID-19 twice within a 24-hour period. Bulls executive vice president Artūras Karnišovas said at the team's media day in late September that "we are getting pretty close" when asked about the percentage of players who are fully vaccinated. NBC Sports Chicago reported last week that a team source said that 100 percent of Bulls players are now fully vaccinated. In October, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said that 94 percent of all league personnel have been vaccinated without a vaccination mandate in place in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement. The Bulls (8-3) are entering a stretch in which they will face the Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets over the next eight days. The Bulls won't return to the United Center until Nov. 21 when they host the New York Knicks. Vucevic is averaging 13.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game. The All-Star center was acquired from the Orlando Magic last year and is one of four Bulls players who is averaging double figures along with DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball.
