CALABASAS, CA — On Wednesday night, the Calabasas City Council held its first hybrid meeting since March 2020. During the hybrid meeting, Mayor James Bozajian, Mayor Pro Tem Mary Sue Maurer, and Councilmember Alicia Weintraub attended in-person at City Hall wearing masks, while council members Peter Kraut and David Shapiro attended virtually, and were broadcast from a TV screen above the council members' seats. During their first meeting back, council members awarded the Mayor's Youth Council Cup to Calabasas High School for winning the voter registration drive in September, and recognized both LVUSD Superintendent Dr. Dan Stepenosky for being named the 2021 Los Angeles County Superintendent of the Year by the LA County Office of Education, and Bridget Karl for her service on the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce. They also debated an LA County Sheriff's Department proposal for automated license plate recognition cameras that have been implemented across California. The ALPR cameras automatically capture vehicles' license plate information, and compare plate numbers with existing law enforcement databases. They also discussed a resolution to install one monument sign, four building mounted signs, three window signs, and one vinyl address sign for the Calabasas Road Audi dealership. Footage of Wednesday's meeting is not available online as of Thursday afternoon.
