Description

NC's brown-headed nuthatches are running out of places to call home. Fortunately, helping them is easy and fun! Come learn how at Slow Farm! The cute little brown-headed nuthatch thrives in mature pine forests, which are increasingly being logged or cut down for development. Fortunately, helping these birds is easy and fun!! I’ll show you how to make a nuthatch homestead perfectly designed entice nuthatches to your yard (and to keep out competing species like sparrows). Your personalized house will be a great conversation piece AND let you connect with and conserve a beautiful threatened species right in your own yard! Join us for a hands-on birdhouse building and decorating workshop, as well as a walking tour of our 47 acre regenerative farm (including visiting with goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and more!). As we walk we’ll observe ways that native flora and fauna interact with agriculture to enrich depleted soil and create balanced ecosystems.
