BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Finally, a car show worthy of James Bond. This Sunday, Rolls Royces, Jaguars, Aston Martins, Bentleys, and dozens more of the world's rarest, most iconic British cars will wind their way through Beverly Hills streets as part of BritWeek 2021, a partnership between the Petersen Automotive Museum and the City of Beverly Hills. 75 of the world's rarest British vehicles, from Steve McQueen's 1956 Jaguar XKSS to one of the only two 1947 Rolls Royce Inskips to be made by hand, will start at the Petersen Automotive Museum at 10 a.m., and wind through Beverly Hills streets for an hour before finishing at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at 11 a.m. The cars will then park on Crescent Drive in front of Beverly Hills City Hall, where they will be on display for the public until 1 p.m. See here for a map of the rally route. The event is also co-hosted by BritWeek, which was founded in 2007 by "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance" producer Nigel Lythgoe and then British Consul General Bob Pierce to promote British products and culture in the United States. The last BritWeek rally in 2019 brought approximately 700 people to the city, the Beverly Hills Courier reports. The luxury cars will feature both antique cars and futuristic eco-friendly cars, like a 1948 Bentley MK VI Mallalieu Mercia Roadster, an original 1962 Lotus 7, and the only 2005 TVR Sagaris in the United States. If you miss Sunday's rally, you can tune into the free online Festival of Curious Minds, a free, online BritWeek-sponsored series of talks on the eco-friendly future of cars. The Petersen Museum is also hosting a British-themed breakfast on its rooftop, where guests can view the cars up close. Beverly Hills has a long, proud tradition of luxury car rallies that are returning this year after being canceled in 2020. On Father's Day, Beverly Hills hosted its annual Rodeo Drive Concours D'Elegance, which brought everything from an original Beverly Hills 1929 Ahrens-Fox Fire Truck to Jay Leno's 1951 Hudson Hornet (driven by Leno himself) to the Shah of Iran's Bugatti down a similar route. Caitlyn Jenner, at the time campaigning for governor, drove a 1960 Bugeye Sprite emblazoned with "Caitlyn for California." For more information, visit britweek.com.
