Take our “1-day – all day” Boating Safety Class to gain your knowledge of safe boating principles, develop the skills needed for safe boat operation, learn that driving a boat is very different from driving an automobile, learn about safety equipment and what is required before you get out onto the water, learn about important line handling techniques and nautical knots, develop navigation skills and learn how to read a nautical chart, learn the nautical “Rules of the Road, learn what the “Right of Way” rules are and how the rules are applied. This course is a NASBLA certified classroom program designed for boaters aged 13 years and older. Upon course completion, the Rhode Island Challenge Exam is offered to receive the safe boating certificate (Card). This card is required for all persons born after January 1, 1986 that wish to operate a motor vessel with 10 HP motors or greater. This certificate/card is required for all Jet Ski operators regardless of age. Class location is in the DEM (Foundry Complex) in Room 300.
