Seeking Lead Singer for Classic Rock Band
Meets
Philadelphia PA
Description
We are four amateur musicians (guitar, bass, drums and keys/vox) seeking a fifth person to share lead vocals with our keys player. If you can also play an instrument (especially harmonica and/or guitar) that would be a significant plus, but our critical need is for lead vocals, especially in the higher ranges. We've been together for a few months, and practice at the drummer's home in Mt. Airy. Our goal is to put together a few set lists, polish the songs into reasonably tight arrangements, and play out once or twice a month at local bars, community events and similar venues. We are all fully vaccinated. The songs we're working on right now are American Girl (Tom Petty), Devil's Radio (George Harrison), Get Over It (The Eagles), Glad All Over (Dave Clark Five), I Can't Explain (The Who), I Saw Her Standing There (Beatles), I Won't Back Down (Tom Petty), Jumpin' Jack Flash (Rolling Stones), Lady Madonna (Beatles), Learn To Fly (Foo Fighters), Let's Work Together (Canned Heat), The Letter (Box Tops), True Lies (Kenny Wayne Shepherd) and You Wreck Me (Tom Petty). We would welcome input in expanding our repertoire from whoever joins us. Other songs we've been considering include The Wind Cries Mary (Jimi Hendrix), Heavy Fuel (Dire Straits), Helen Wheels (Paul McCartney), Got To Get Better In A Little While (Derek and the Dominos), Tightrope Ride (The Doors), Any Road (George Harrison), Cassidy (Grateful Dead), Rock n Roll (Lou Reed), Absolutely Sweet Marie (Bob Dylan), The Jean Genie (David Bowie), Around The Dial (The Kinks), Bye Bye Love (The Cars) and Squeeze Box (The Who). We're MUCH more concerned with finding someone who is compatible with us and genuinely interested in this project than with whether their musical skills and experience exactly match our own. Age and gender are unimportant (though we are all mature adults), and you don't need to play at a professional level. What's ESSENTIAL is that you: • are fully vaccinated • are collaborative, thoughtful and respectful • have a real desire to perform this kind of music • are competent with your voice/instrument beyond a beginner level • are available for rehearsals (every week or two, at least until a few sets are firmed up) • show up reliably, and give advance notice when you can't be there • are willing to give and receive constructive criticism as well as appreciation • ask for what you want, hear what others are asking for, and be available to negotiate the difference If this connects with where you are musically and personally, we want to hear from you. Please tell us a little about yourself and how you see yourself fitting into this project - inquiries with just a name and phone number will not receive a reply.
