Description

Join REI Co-op and the Esplanade Association for our #OptOutside Community Volunteer Day on the Esplanade on November 18, 2021! Join REI Co-op and the Esplanade Association for our #OptOutside Community Volunteer Day on the Esplanade on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 9am to 11am! We invite all members of our community to #OptOutside and join us for a rewarding morning of volunteering on the Esplanade in honor of REI’s #OptOutside initiative. The #OptOutside movement is driven by the co-op’s desire to inspire REI employees, its 20 million members nationwide and broader society to celebrate the power of time outside and reject the mass consumption and stress that comes with Black Friday. #OptOutside began as a moment for everyone to recreate responsibly and spend Black Friday outside. This year, the co-op is calling on its community to come together to build a more equitable and inclusive outdoors where everyone can be themselves and feel welcome. Taking part in the Esplanade Association's community volunteer days is a great way to meet other people who are passionate about volunteerism and giving back to the Charles River Esplanade, as well as our local community. This year's #OptOutside Community Volunteer Day on the Esplanade will involve cleaning up and removing litter from along the Esplanade's park land and shorelines. Registration for this event is capped at 50 people and can be found at OptOutsideEsplanade.eventbrite.com. Day-of meeting location will be shared via email within days leading up to the event. Please cancel if no longer able to attend. All volunteer tasks abide by federal, state, and local guidelines are designed to keep you safely physically-distant. To learn more about these guidelines visit: Esplanade.org/volunteer/faqs-day-of/. Work is done in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. The Esplanade Association is a nonprofit organization that works to revitalize and enhance the Charles River Esplanade, sustain its natural green space, and build community in the park by providing educational, cultural, and recreational programs for everyone. Working in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Esplanade Association is dedicated to improving the experiences of the millions of visitors who enjoy Boston’s iconic riverside park.
