Hello, My name is Raleigh Kathman, and I have been a performing musician/guitar teacher for over 11 years in the Chicagoland area. I’m here to offer private guitar lessons for people who are ready to take the next step in their playing, or start with an incredible foundation on the guitar. I have worked at almost every major corporate or large private music school imaginable when it comes to teaching both private guitar lessons and instructing bands. In addition to my professional teaching experience in the USA, in 2017-2018, I finished a six month apprenticeship in Berlin, Germany on advanced practice techniques with composer and touch guitarist Markus Reuter, famous for performing with members of King Crimson. I can offer all of the benefits of these programs and MORE through my own personal curriculum that I have honed for over 9 years full time. I have a unique approach that is all about building step by step physical control over the instrument. I have seen time and time again how musical instruments are lumped into the ‘arts’, but if you are serious about making progress on an instrument, you need to approach music like a professional athlete with a deeper understanding of the specific exercises that will get you there.
