PATCHOGUE, NY — Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifice of the U.S. armed forces, and this year there is no shortage of ceremonies nearby to mark the occasion. The United Veterans Organization of Patchogue, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2913, American Legion Post 269, and AmVets Post 111, will host an annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Four Corners on Thursday. It starts at 1o:30 a.m. The Friends of Lakeview Cemetery will host the 5th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday from 11 to 12:30 a.m. It will feature reenactors, a musket gun salute and a ceremony conducted by the Society of the Grand Army of the Republic, Richard J. Clark Post 210 of Patchogue with Friends of Lakeview Cemetery members, scouts, veterans organizations, and community leaders. The event is free. Meet near the flagpole on the Waverly Avenue side of the property. There is limited parking inside the Lakeview Cemetery gate, which is located on West Main Street, just west of the YMCA. Parking is also available on Waverly Avenue, West Main Street, or in the YMCA/ Blue Point Brewery lot. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2937 will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at Medford Memorial Park on Route 112 on Thursday at 11 a.m.
