Here are the top stories in Burlington today: Some Burlington business owners are taking safety into their own hands by participating in de-escalation training. Ongoing conversations about safety in Burlington's downtown over the past few months prompted business owners to take action. These training sessions are being done in partnership with clinicians at the Howard Center. (WCAX)Makers of a popular Vermont pasta sauce who are also Burlington property managers are responding to reports accusing them of being "slumlords." Seven Days investigated after tenants pointed to issues at the properties managed by the Bove family, including cockroach infestations and other ongoing maintenance issues. In a statement Wednesday, the Boves said they're taking "immediate corrective action" to address the gaps and that they will be more "consistent" in the future. (WCAX) A group of local home cooks known as Lasagna Love is offering free meals in Chittenden County to anyone who wants it, no questions asked. People requesting a lasagna dinner can sign up through lasagnalove.org to get matched with a cook in their area. There are currently seven chefs available in Burlington.
