By Chris Jennewein, Times of San Diego November 10, 2021 Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is no stranger to attacks from conservative media, told an interviewer that he believes watching Fox News makes viewers feel "miserable and stressed." Newsom made the remarks to former advisor Lenny Mendonca during a livestreamed interview Tuesday from the 2021 California Economic Summit. The Governor praised California for leading the world in everything from Nobel Prize winners and green energy to technology innovation and new business startups. "These are things you don't see on One America News or Fox," he said. Fox commentators Tucker Carlson — who grew up in La Jolla — Sean Hannity and others regularly criticize Newsom and California. "It's just remarkable how obsessed some are with trying to trip California up," Newsom said. He said the constant conservative media focus on "beating us up" about changes in America is making viewers miserable. "Whatever you focus on you'll find more of. That's why everyone's so damn miserable watching Fox," he said. "You have to be miserable and stressed and the world's coming to an end." The Governor said he is passionate about economic growth in California and believes the state has no peers because "the future is still invented here."
