LOS ANGELES, CA — A second man will plead guilty to charges related to the 2018 overdose death of hip hop star and Pittsburgh native Mac Miller. Ryan Michael Reavis, 38, an Arizona resident who formerly lived in West Los Angeles, has agreed to plead guilty to distribution of fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney's Central District of California Office. According to a plea agreement, Reavis and co-defendant Stephen Walter, 48, arranged the sale of counterfeit oxycodone pills to co-defendant Cameron James Petit, 30, of West Hollywood. Reavis admitted in the plea deal to knowing that the pills contained fentanyl or another controlled substance. Petit distributed the pills to Miller two days before Miller's fatal overdoes on Sept. 7, 2018. Last month, Walter signed a plea agreement in which he agreed to plead guilty to one count of distribution of fentanyl. The case against Petit is pending. The Los Angeles County Examiner-Coroner determined that Miller died of mixed drug toxicity involving fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 50 times more potent than heroin. Born Malcolm James McCormick, Miller grew up in Point Breeze and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School. He died barely a month after the release of his last album, "Swimming," and had been scheduled to return to his hometown to perform at the Petersen Events Center in Oakland.
