SALEM, NH — Salem police are investigating a crash that sent three teenagers to hospitals in Massachusetts with serious injuries on Wednesday. Just before 8:30 p.m., police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Pond Street for a single-vehicle crash. When they arrived, they found a 2004 Ford Mustang crashed into trees with three people trapped inside, according to Chief Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department. "The Salem Fire Department responded and extricated all three and two were subsequently transported via medical helicopter to Boston area hospitals with life-threatening injuries," he said. "The third was transported via ambulance to a Boston hospital with serious injuries." Dolan said the department's Analysis and Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. The initial investigation indicates speed appeared to be a factor, he added.
