CONCORD, NH — President Joe Biden will be coming to New Hampshire next week to promote the new infrastructure deal. The president will be in the state on Tuesday holding an event in Woodstock, visiting Woodstock Bridge, after signing the bill. The all-Democrat federal delegation is expected to be with the president during the visit. According to officials, New Hampshire will receive more than $2 billion from the $1.2 trillion plan which will be spent on bridges, roads, high-speed Internet, and water projects during the next five years. Politicians Honor Veterans A number of politicians in New Hampshire issued statements commending veterans. U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), who participated in a ceremony in Portsmouth, commended the sacrifices made by service members. "The heroism of our service members was recently on vivid display in Afghanistan during the dangerous evacuation mission — including the 13 service members who made the ultimate sacrifice," she said. "I'm especially keeping all of our Afghan veterans and their families who served on the frontlines to protect Americans and our partners in my thoughts during what has been a tremendously challenging time for them." Shaheen heralded heroes likes of Roger Campbell and the late Francis Byrne, two of New Hampshire's military who served during World War II and earned the Congressional Gold Medal and Purple Heart, respectively. "There is nothing I take more seriously than my obligation as a U.S. Senator to provide for our veterans," she said. "From ensuring veterans have access to the physical and mental health treatment they need to connecting them with good-paying jobs that ease their transition back to civilian life, I'll always prioritize delivering the benefits Granite State veterans earned and deserve." U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan placed flags at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday. She also marched in the Manchester parade. "As we mark Veterans Day, we honor the service and sacrifice of those who have bravely served our country to keep us safe, secure, and free," she said. "Importantly, we must also reflect on and recommit ourselves to the values that all veterans have fought for. At a time when we see far too much division, it's important to remember that our nation's veterans answered the call to serve their fellow citizens without regard to walk of life or political party. They stood guard, fought, and sacrificed simply because — and always because — we are Americans, and because freedom, liberty, and justice are worth fighting for." Read Hassan's full statement on Medium. Don Bolduc (R-NH), a retired brigadier general who is also a 2022 U.S. Senate candidate, said the last few months have been "challenging for our veterans" and, sadly, "their struggles often go overlooked." Many veterans suffered in silence. "As human beings, we can get so preoccupied with our daily lives, the media and world events, that oftentimes we forget about the ones who have sacrificed so much for us all," Bolduc said. "I hope you take the time, not just on Veteran's Day, but every day, to appreciate our veterans and the service and sacrifice they have made to fight for our American freedoms and liberties." U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster (D-NH) also joined everyone in honoring veterans. "The sacrifice our veterans, active-duty service members, and military families undertake is unmatched and truly embodies the best of our country," she said. "It is an honor to advocate on their behalf in Congress and to ensure our veterans have the resources and support they need and deserve when they return to civilian life. To all the brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, guardsmen, and marines who put their lives on the line to keep us safe, thank you."
