DARIEN, IL — A Hinsdale South High School club posted its fundraiser to GoFundMe a month ago. Nearly 40 percent of its donations have come in the last couple of days. As of Thursday afternoon, the recently formed Recording and Broadcasting Club has pulled in $4,425, exceeding its $3,000 goal. Two days ago, the total was $2,730. Among the latest contributions was $1,000 from an anonymous donor. On Tuesday, Patch published a story about the GoFundMe effort to raise money for new recording equipment and furniture in the school's studio. South's radio station has not operated since the 2018-19 year. But the one at its sister school, Hinsdale Central, continues. Officials from Hinsdale High School District 86 say the district's Radio Club is open to students from both Central and South, though some residents are asking why South students have to raise money for their studio. On the South club's GoFundMe page, member Henry Sullivan said, "Recording and Broadcasting fills a unique yet in-demand gap in the Hinsdale South Community, providing both artistic and journalistic resources for students to create with." GoFundMe is a Patch promotional partner.
