Here are the top stories in Toledo today: Local advancements of both the University of Toledo and First Solar could make the Glass City an epicenter of clean energy at the frontier of the US economy. First Solar announced plans to invest $680 million into a facility in Lake Township, creating 500 new jobs. UT is developing ultra thin solar film for communication satellites and has received a $500 million grant from the US Air Force Research Laboratory. (Toledo City Paper) Demetric Ramone-Schrone Williams has been arrested after he fired a gun at a man attempting to steal his car at the Tobacco Stop on Monroe, near Douglas in West Toledo. The shooting occurred Wednesday but Williams was arrested Thursday and charged with felonious assault. (WTOL) 84-year-old Toledoan David Koch was reported missing after he was last seen driving away from his home on Robinwood Avenue on Wednesday. Koch was found by police and the statewide Endangered Missing Adult Alert was canceled Thursday. (WHIO Radio)25-year-old Toledoan Marcus Hartford is finally home after battling COVID-19 for seven months in the hospital. Marcus shares a similar story with 25-year-old Molly Chapol, who traveled four hours to greet him upon his return. (WTOL) The Toledo Police Athletic League (PAL) is asking City Council for funds to build upon the athletic grounds at the current PAL facility on East Manhattan Blvd., site of the old Leverette school. The proposed baseball, soccer, and flag football fields could provide a much needed alternative as youth crime stats are on the rise.
