UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Two people were killed in a fire Wednesday night within a building on the Upper West Side, FDNY said.
The deadly blaze took place around 11:35 p.m. within the fourth-floor apartment of 216 West 62nd Street (West End Avenue), FDNY said.
Firefighters found a 44-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman within the UWS home, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation by the NYC Fire Marshall deemed the fire not suspicious at the time, but the process remains ongoing.

Police did tell the New York Post, though, that the blaze began inside a laundry room, and was preliminarily ruled to be electrical.
The identities of the 44-year-old and 70-year-old are pending proper family notification.
