This is a unique opportunity to work with an adult in his twenties who experiences classic autism. Join a support team using evidence based methods and best practices to help him become as independent as possible and integrated into his community! Our team wish list! • Know Apple devices well (iPod, iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac) and know how to troubleshoot them. Feel comfortable around electronics/technology such as VR, game devices, etc. We use these devices throughout his day. • Flexibility in scheduling preferred for training. • Work well with a team and on your own. Work one on one with this man in his home and community. • Have an interest in autism, psychology and the brain. Have intellectual curiosity, empathy, patience and a good sense of humor. (Prior psychology classes a plus. Prior experience working with autistic individuals is not necessary. Training and supervision is ongoing. You will be guided by Behavior Specialists and work with experienced staff.) • Have good organizing, planning, problem solving, multitasking and communication skills. Be punctual and reliable. • Enjoy some of the activities he enjoys: Mountain biking, biking, hiking, rollerblading, skateboarding, swimming, yoga and other physically active activities. He also enjoys video games, music, piano, woodworking, and is dabbling in photography and some other artistic endeavors. You will learn the following: • Positive Behavior Support strategies • Data collection procedures • Visual schedules • How to use technology to foster independence • Supports in the home and community • Most up to date research on autism spectrum disorders • Advocacy Schedule: Work approximately approximately 20 hours a week. Afternoon, evening and weekend hours available. (More hours available in the future.) Requirements: Own a reliable car. (Mileage reimbursement available for activities in the community.) Must have a current driver’s license and auto insurance. Must be at least 18 years old and be able to pass a criminal background check. *COVID-19 (We follow CDC/Oregon Health Authority guidelines.
