Keys and Bass Players Wanted for Soul project

Meets

Beaverton OR

Description

We're looking for a bass player and keys player to join our 'Soul" project. Ideally, we're looking for people who draw inspiration from classic soul, funk, and jazz, so if you're looking to get together with some good people to play with and learn tunes, have fun, and connect: READ ON! We are an "intermediate" project with a line up of drums, guitar, and female vocals. We're seeking to add in keys and bass players who are 1) solid communicators 2) eager to play music together 3) can commit to regular practice and jamming together and 4) want to collaborate/ contribute to digging into soul, funk, jazz +. As a band, we share and contrast across a number of influences, but all share a love for old and new styles of soul, jazz, funk music (think: Stax, Mowtown, Hi, Daptone, Colemine, etc.). We all have families, are in our 40's, and are committed to practicing regularly, developing our individual/ collective growth, and having fun! Songs we're currently working on include tunes by Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones and Dap-Kings, Gil Scott Heron, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire, and Joni Mitchell. Since our previous keys and bass players drifted (due to schedules, family life, etc: hey, that's life!), we are looking to keep on pushing things forward and re-solidify the group (with the dream of adding horns down the road). We want to keep our project fun, social, and centered on connectivity and to play out eventually and bring/ share/ celebrate this music with the people of Portland+! So if this post has sparked any interest, reach out and let's connect! 2 Quick disclaimers: 1) We practice on the weekends in Beaverton Cedar Hills area (right off 26). Focus, enthusiasm, flexibility, collaboration, growth, creative input, and fun are our priorities. 3) Last thing: In the spirit of complete disclosure and transparency: Many of us have young kids at home(s), we'll need you to mask up and be vaccinated to play together. Thanks for understanding and staying safe!
