Fundraiser: Five short documentaries made prior to Taliban takeover, followed by a talk about (and perhaps with) the filmmakers in hiding.
When global tragedies happen it often seems too far removed from our daily lives. They may move us, but we seem too displaced to help in any meaningful way.
JP Movie Night - working in collaboration with CS Film - is hosting a film screening fundraiser to combat that feeling of powerlessness.
On December 4, JPMN is showing five short documentaries made by Afghani nationals prior to the Taliban takeover. Those same filmmakers are now refugees in other countries, or are in hiding within their own. All proceeds from the night will go towards an effort to bring those filmmakers to safety.
The night may be capped by a live audio conversation with those filmmakers, depending on their situation on the night of the screening.
All attendees will be asked to show proof of vaccination at the door, and masks will be required indoors - as per state mandate.
