An evening of cameras and cuisine with world-renowned photographer George Lange and James Beard Best Chef nominated Christian Frangiadis! Join GEORGE LANGE at SPORK for an evening of stories and inspiration around his friendship with photography hero, DUANE MICHALS. Back when George Lange was studying photography at RISD, he went to a lecture at MIT by Duane Michaels. Recording the talk on a cassette recorder George spent the next week transcribing it by hand. That legal pad became his creative bible. He still has it to this day. For years George would run into Duane in the streets of New York and Duane would always say, ”George, call me! I am in the phone book.” George would always answer, “I can’t call you….you’re DUANE MICHALS!” So it went until three years ago when George finally called Duane and they became friends. Hosting his second feast at Spork, George will tell a bunch of his Duane stories, show some pictures, and screen a short film they recently worked on together. Duane is hysterically funny. He is wildly absurd. He is often terribly inappropriate. The best part is seeing how George found in his biggest hero the most loving, generous, inspiring and wonderful friend. Come for the stories and stay for the meal - or - come for the food and stay for the pictures! Either way, it will be great fun, great company, and an all round wild night. George will give a guided tour of his studio, directly across the street from Spork, and will have prints available for sale as well including many famous photographs from a long illustrious career. Five course Dinner with wine and cocktail pairings will be included.
