NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) affiliate in Pasco County (NAMI Pasco) announces their 2022 Board of Directors. "In 2020, we saw a 1,455% increased utilization of our services. 2021 has brought even more additional needs. We have been able to meet the demand by increasing offerings and pretty much growing nonstop. In 2022 we hope to be able to focus more on building up our base (the board) to keep this mountain top (our services) high." said Debbie L. Proulx, Executive Director of NAMI Pasco. NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization. The nonprofit provides free mental health support, advocacy, outreach, and education to those with mental health conditions and their loved ones. Entering her last year as Board Chair, Stephanie Centella, director of Pasco Counseling and Visitation stated "I'm so excited to see where NAMI Pasco is going to go in the future. I've watched it grow from a caterpillar to a butterfly and now is when it really is going to spread its wings and fly." The new Vice-Chair, Heather Snyder has been the Board's NAMI on Campus representative for the past few quarters. She has stated that she is "really happy to serve on the NAMI Pasco board" and that "when we feel isolated we can overcome that, we can overcome everything, together we are overcoming, that's what NAMI Pasco is all about." Completing the Executive Board is Elaine Sabra as the Secretary/Treasurer. She is also this year's recipient of the Board Member of The Year Hero of Hope Award. Additional board members include Avery Lomax, Christina Dodson, Melanie Butterworth, Nicole Kelly, and Nicolette Gray. "I'm really excited to have a board made up of such dedicated and caring individuals," Proulx said "in the last two years we have really grown. I can't wait to see where this new board takes us. What's particularly noteworthy is that myself and the entire board is made up of people living with mental health conditions which will provide a true perspective of those that we serve."
