Japanese Fall Flavors
Fall is rich in distinctive delicacies, and I have some awesome disposable wooden bento!
Each order will include 2 boxes, one large and one small, filled with rice, seafood (sake-poached shrimp, grilled fish, etc), seasonal vegetables (locally foraged ginkgo nuts, heirloom hinona turnips from the garden), and more. Each order feeds 1 hungry Josh style eater, or 2 lightweights.
Not suitable for vegetarians or people with sesame, soy, seafood, egg, or nut allergies; may be made pescatarian on request.
Only 10 sets will be available.
Pickup is at noon so you can enjoy the fall weather outdoors. I recommend a chilled bottle of Shirakabegura (available at Piggly Wiggly) or Kikusui (available at Hometown). Perhaps you visit the Botanical Gardens and check out the Alabama craftsman expo that’s going on this weekend.
10% of sales will be donated to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Toshinan Restoration Fund.

Chef Josh Haynes is a native of Birmingham, AL, and in addition to working in some of the best restaurants in Birmingham spent a year studying in Bangkok, Thailand, surrounded by traditional cuisine. In particular, he is inspired by the remnants of Royal cuisine that linger in Bangkok, and the old-fashioned regional dishes of the Kingdom.
