PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A group of local organizations are hoping to help 500 families stay warm this winter in Park Slope. The Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District, Roots Cafe, Old Stone House, Park Slope Parents, Park Slope Civic Council and Trinity Grace Church have partnered up to collect coats and other winter items for families at the WIN shelters in the neighborhood. The organizations will collect winter coats, as well as hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for women and children at 10 different locations throughout the neighborhood until the end of next week. The coat drive is aiming to gather 500 kids' coats by Nov. 19. "We want to honor the recipients by only giving clean, super high quality items," organizers wrote.
