WAUKESHA, WI—Kathleen Cummings, who resigned as Waukesha County Supervisor and alderman for over 20 years, was charged with seven felonies, according to online court documents. Cummings was charged in Waukesha County Court on Wednesday with five counts of false swearing-government setting and two counts of election fraud/nomination certification, court documents said. Cummings is accused of not living in her home district for nine years of her time in public service, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. She was elected as alderman of District 9 for 20 years and as County Supervisor for District 19 for 22 years. Cummings didn't give a reason in her letter for her resignation but thanked her constituents for their support. Mayor Shawn Reilly told Patch the Common Council will decide Tuesday the next steps following Cumming's resignation. Waukesha County Board Chairman Paul Decker told Patch Cummings' county seat will remain open until the April election. This story is developing.
