Each year during the holidays, FMASU hosts a film-inspired event designed to raise money for a special local cause. This special afternoon of Christmas-inspired cinematic entertainment will include the 10th anniversary of "The Holiday Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase." For this Showcase, a handful of talented local filmmakers were given a Christmas related topic and a limited amount of time to create short films using any resources available to them. During "A Merry Movie Christmas," you'll have the rare opportunity to experience these wonderful short films on the big screen alongside the dedicated storytellers who put them together. You'll also have the opportunity to vote for your favorite as there will be audience choice awards presented to the 3 strongest films of the bunch. But the magic doesn't end there. Word is, Santa Claus will also be taking time out of his hectic schedule to make a very special appearance. Obviously, we're living in very strange times so while Santa will be on hand, he will be at a distance. Still, there will be photo ops and you'll still have the opportunity to tell the big man what you want for Christmas. Additionally, you can expect a few other little surprises at this very special all-ages event. It should also be noted that immediately following "A Merry Movie Christmas" charity event, FMASU will present a FREE screening of THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL. This wonderful spin on a Charles Dickens classic features your favorite Muppets in action as well as an unforgettable Michael Caine as Scrooge. "A Merry Movie Christmas" will begin at 2 PM (Doors at 1:30). Tickets are only $15. $10 for senior citizens and $5 for children 11 and under. The FREE movie screening will take place at 6 PM. It should also be noted that all necessary safety precautions will be taken including limited seating, distancing, sanitizing stations, and masks.
