Here are the top stories in Spokane today: Finding affordable housing continues to be a struggle in Spokane, where wages have gone up 11 percent while housing costs went up nearly 50 percent. Spokane also has a low inventory of houses right now, which is driving up prices further. Experts say the only way Spokane can fight these economic growing pains is to provide more higher-paying jobs for its residents, but this is not an easy fix. (KREM.com)The City of Spokane is considering building a roundabout at 37th and Ray — a main arterial connecting the south hill to I-90. Officials believe drivers would exit Regal Street sooner if traffic along 37th Avenue improved. Two or three homes would have to be demolished to make room for the roundabout.
