NEW LONDON, CT — New London and Groton will end mask mandates effective Wednesday, according to The New London Day. The two municipalities were the last in southeastern Connecticut to end their mask mandates.
The decision comes due to high vaccination rates and dropping numbers of COVID-19 infections. An official from the Ledge Light Health District noted that 81.7% of New London County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID, the second-highest rate among the state's counties.
Municipal leaders recommended that people continue to wear masks indoors per guidance from the CDC.
