PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — The Prince William County Police Department is conducting a "Click It or Ticket" seat belt enforcement campaign through Nov. 29, so be sure to strap on your seat belt or else run the risk of getting a ticket, or, even worse, dying in a car crash. The Prince William County Police are joining law enforcement agencies across Virginia in the "Click It or Ticket" campaign to enforce the state's safety-belt and child safety-seat laws. The department will conduct high-visibility patrols day and night through the end of November. Seat belts are mandatory in Virginia for all people riding in the front seat. Also, Virginia car seat laws state that all children under the age of eight must ride in a federally approved, secured safety seat. And children between eight and 15 must use a safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt, no matter where in the vehicle the child is riding. Virginia law allows police to cite a buckled-in driver in a car where one of the passengers under age 16 is not wearing a safety belt or is not in a child safety seat.
