RESTON, VA — Baby, a 15-year-old Yorkshire terrier, has been missing from her Reston home for over a week.
"My husband let her out the back door. We've been having a new deck put on," said Cathy Dain. "Apparently, one of the workers left the gate ajar and she just took off."
Bob and Cathy Dain raised Baby since she was a puppy. The 5-pound, mostly tan dog with pointy ears went missing around 11 a.m. on Nov. 1 from the couple's home near Reston National Golf Course on Weybridge Lane
"She was last seen near the 14th hole of the golf course on the first," Cathy Dain said, in a phone interview on Wednesday.
Since Baby disappeared, the Dains have contacted local animal shelters, as well as posted signs around Reston and on social media. They even hired someone to track her with the help of a scent dog.
"Her scent ended on Purple Beach, in a lady's front yard," Cathy Dain said. "That's where the dog actually laid down on the ground."
Bob Dain knocked on the door of the house where the dog had stopped, but the occupants said they hadn't heard of Baby nor had they seen her.
"If they see her, please take a picture and call us immediately," Cathy Dain said, when asked what people should do if they find her. "I think she'd be very skittish and would just run from them. We also have another dog tracker coming Saturday morning at 10 to see if they can find anything further."
Anyone who locates Baby is asked to snap her photo and call the Dains at 703-597-3337 or 703-955-8821.
