HERNDON, VA — Abraham Bresner Porres of Reston, who was wanted by the Herndon Police Department, is now in police custody of the Loudoun County Sherrif's Office.
Porres was picked up Tuesday night and charged in connection with a series of robberies of convenience stores in Loudoun and Fairfax counties, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
"He was picked up by a neighboring jurisdiction and we had two warrants for commercial robbery,"Lisa Herndon, public information officer with HPD.
The first robbery of a Herndon business occurred Oct. 17 in the 500 block of Elden Street and the second robbery happened on Oct. 28 at a business in the 1100 block of Crestview Drive.
"Social media led to him being identified, which is just fantastic," Herndon said.
Social media also helped HPD to quickly locate a 28-year-old Herndon woman who had gone missing on Tuesday morning.
"We had so many shares," Herndon said. "The power of social media has been fantastic for us in our town."
