ROUND ROCK, TX — The Texas Fallen Project and the Young Men's Service League in Williamson County spent the weekend cleaning veterans' headstones in Round Rock. The two organizations spent Saturday morning cleaning headstones at Sam Bass Cemetery to honor late veterans who served their country. The groups washed down the headstones to remove the mold, pulled out weeds and planted flags. The cleanup event took place days ahead of Veterans Day, which is on Thursday. Bobby Withrow, founder and managing director of the Texas Fallen Project, told FOX7 Austin on Saturday that the group traditionally comes to the cemetery to plant flags on the headstones; however, this year the organization wanted to do something special. "We are actually out here cleaning all the veterans' headstones before we are putting up flags," Withrow told the TV station. Withrow said he's been coming to the Round Rock cemetery for years and wants it to become a place where the veterans and others can be honored. "Hopefully, one day — I will have every headstone in this cemetery cleaned," he said. "It's important that we remember everybody that sacrificed for us."
