PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — On Monday, Prince George's County Council Member Monique Anderson-Walker announced her resignation the County Council member representing District 8. In a letter sent to her constituents, Anderson-Walker highlighted the accomplishments she's attained while in office. She noted that she made the "difficult decision" to resign from her seat because she needs to devote her time to the gubernatorial campaign. "Throughout my entire life, I have put my heart in my work ... I have been unapologetic in fighting for issues that matter to your families and for standing up and speaking out, even if I was the lone voice in the room or a part of a minority group," she said. "I am most proud of the fact that our district came together during an unprecedented global economic and public health crisis to help our neighbors weather through one of the most difficult chapters in the life of our community, our county and our state." Anderson-Walker is running with Peter Franchot for the office of lieutenant governor.
