Press release from the Somerset County Government: 11/10/2021 11:24 AM SOMERVILLE, NJ – Register for any of the free "Unprecedented" mental health disaster recovery programs and workshops available through the Somerset County Hope and Healing Crisis Counseling Program (CCP). These programs are ideal for mental health professionals, businesses, non-profits, or individuals interested in joining a support group to learn how to cope with mental health issues stemming from the impact of unprecedented disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Ida. "It's important that access to mental health support is available to residents in the workplace and our communities where we spend so much of our time every week," said Somerset County Commissioner Paul Drake. "When we ignore mental health issues, the cost to our residents, their families, and their colleagues can be immeasurable." "Unprecedented: A Disaster Recovery Workbook" Supplemental Tool Each workshop, support group, and training session will use the workbook as a tool to help participants navigate through the process of addressing their mental health issues and learning how to cope with emotional stress through a solution-focused and systematic method for healing trauma. "Unprecedented" Programs Training for Mental Health Professionals This two-hour live training session teaches mental health professionals how to help their clients manage emotional issues caused by disasters. The training session is available online through a pre-recorded or live webinar. Wellness Workshop for Businesses and Non-Profit Organizations Designed for non-profits, businesses, and human resource managers to offer to employees. This interactive, six-session, in-service workshop provides support for employees and volunteers who have been emotionally impacted by recent disasters by helping them find wellness in- and -outside the workplace. The in-service workshop is offered as weekly one-hour sessions via Zoom. Support Group for Individuals Individuals will learn how to cope with grief, trauma, and post-traumatic stress in a group led by a trained crisis counselor while receiving support from others.
