Learn About District 304 Preschool Offerings At Open Houses

GENEVA, IL — Prospective parents of the Geneva Early Learning Program will have a chance to learn about Geneva School District 304's preschool offerings at two upcoming open houses. The open houses will take place at Fabyan Elementary School, where the early learning program is housed, on Nov. 17 and Jan. 10. The elementary school is located at 0S350 Grengs Lane in Geneva. Starting at 6 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the respective dates, families will have an hour and a half to meet teachers, check out classrooms and ask any questions, district officials said in a Wednesday news release. "We are dedicated to preparing children — academically, socially, emotionally, and physically — for future learning and life," Divisional Coordinator Jen Seaton said in a statement. Students ages 3 and older are currently being accepted into the program's enrollment. Described as "an inclusive preschool community," the Geneva Early Learning Program uses a research- and play-based curriculum that serves typically developing children as well as kids with disabilities. "Developmentally appropriate activities are aligned with the Creative Curriculum, the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards, and student progress is monitored via standards-based reporting," the district's release reads. Teachers who work in the program all have bachelor's or master's degrees and hold a professional educator license from the Illinois State Board of Education. Some teachers also have endorsements in early childhood education, special education, and English as a second language. Classrooms are also equipped with a full-time instructional assistant who is a licensed paraprofessional. "We are so excited to meet prospective Junior Vikings and show families what we have to offer through play-based learning in the Little Blue Nation," Seaton said.
