12:09 p.m. UPDATE: The reason for the lockdown was a person reported seeing someone with a firearm near the high school according to police.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Hopewell High School is on lockdown as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday due to police activity according to an alert sent to parents.
The school system sent that notice to students and parents just before lunchtime notifying them of the lockdown, per WSOC.
This is the same high school prompting parents to speak out tonightat the CMS board meeting about school safety following a fight involving five students last week. A firearm was discovered during that altercation.
