Here are the top stories in Atlanta today: As a part of a season-long "Year of the Teacher," the Atlanta Hawks and Clorox want to reward your favorite teacher for being the best! Nine Atlanta Public School educators will be honored by the two organizations and will be provided with much-needed classroom resources. Through March 4, 2022, anyone can go to Hawks.com/Teacher to nominate APS teachers to receive Clorox products for their respective schools and two tickets for a Hawks home game at State Farm Arena. Each honoree will also receive a $500 gift card for school supplies and be recognized at the game. (Atlanta Patch) Jumpin' Jack Flash was jumping through Atlanta ahead of tonight's big concert. Mick Jagger, singer for the Rolling Stones, spent some time out on the town before the band's performance tonight at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Wednesday, Jagger posted photos on social media, "Seeing the sights of Atlanta," sharing shots from iconic local hotspots like the Clermont Lounge, the Jackson Street Bridge, the High Museum of Art, Fat Matt's Rib Shack and Piedmont Park. The Stones kicked off their "No Filter" tour in September. (11Alive.com WXIA) Fulton County Schools is raising its minimum wage to $16 for hourly employees as part of a mid-year increase that all employees will share in, as detailed at a work session Tuesday. The School Board reviewed the $28.7 million plan that includes one-time payments and salary and wage increases that will increase pay for between 1,500 and 1,800 of the county's lowest-paid employees. Also included in the package are one-time payments for all FCS staff, including $1,200 for full-time employees and $600 for part-time employees to go out on Dec. 17, a one-time payment of $250 at the end of the school year for substitute teachers who worked at least 20 days, as well as other staff stipends and increases. (Atlanta Patch) The African Film Festival Atlanta (AFFATL), powered by the African Film & Arts Foundation, has announced the films for this year's festival. Over 50 films from more than 23 countries will be featured during the festival, scheduled from Nov. 19-21 and managed this year by Sheree Amore, the festival's new producer. A wide range of topics will be covered in the films, from Afrobeats in Cuba to Soviet Union livelihoods. Experienced film jurors with backgrounds in filmmaking, production, acting, storytelling and academia will be judging the eligible films for awards, with winners announced during the festival. (The Atlanta Voice) A shooting near Interstate 20 that sent a man to the hospital early Wednesday morning is now under investigation by Atlanta police. Officials say they were called to the I-20 bridge at Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard after a report of a man shot shortly after 1 a.m. Investigators said the victim was talking to the shooter, which led to an argument. At some point, the man was shot in his lower back and leg. The man collapsed under the bridge and the shooter fled the scene. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is reportedly in stable condition. Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to call the Atlanta Police Department.
