Norton Environmental, Inc, Flagstaff’s materials recovery facility, is currently seeking a plant shift supervisor/mechanic for full time employment. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling daily plant activities in addition to performing equipment preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs. The ideal candidate will have prior management experience and mechanical experience specific to loaders, skid steers, and plant equipment and conveyors. Prior waste experience is a plus. Hours are typically days M-F with after hours and weekends as needed based on plant operational needs. This position is salaried exempt and full benefits eligible. Applicants should apply in-person at 1800 E Butler Ave, Flagstaff, AZ 86001, M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Responsibilities: • Supervise daily operations of all plant employees to achieve objectives. • Supervise daily plant activities to ensure a safe workplace and efficient practices and processes. • Evaluate employees and give suggestions for improvement. • Maintain compliance to all local, state and Federal regulations. Maintain compliance to all OSHA regulations. • Conduct repairs as needed. • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve in a timely manner. • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components. • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery. • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users. • Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, etc.). • Keep logs of work and report on issues. Requirements: • Proven experience as Mechanic • Knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and grinders, welder, electrical tools • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc. • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines • Ability to lead a team of 15+ • Strong attention to deal • Multitasking and time-management skills • Interpersonal skills • Attention to detail • Knowledge of latest safety laws and regulations • Knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations • Problem-solving abilities • Physical strength and stamina
