Description
Maplewood Moseley Community Garden is “Changing People’s Lives Through Growing Food.”
We seek to help families in the Maplewood neighborhood of Vancouver, Washington, put healthy, fresh food on their tables by providing free garden plots on the grounds of the UU church of Vancouver.
On Saturday, Nov.13 we are hosting a community work party to put our 23 4x10 foot gardens to bed for the winter. Volunteer opportunities to help with this important project are now open. 2 shift times are available: 10AM to 1 PM or 1-3 PM with options of heavy or lighter work intensity. This work party is about removing garden vegetation and mulching the gardens using a "Chop & Drop" method. Come to help and learn about his organic gardening method. We will also be transplanting strawberries into pots and weeding the paths and picnic area. We will have another work party the following weekend to lay down cardboard and chips on the pathways and picnic area. Attend one or both work parties! Signup form for the Nov. 20 event will come later. BYO tools (especially nippers and pruners) or use some of ours. Our community garden is located at 4505 E 18th St, Vancouver, WA 98661. Masks and physical distancing required!
