Hi--
I'm recently retired but am no where near ready to lay down my desire to get back to making some music.
I was weaned on Simon & Garfunkel, the Beatles, The Byrds, Creedence, Motown, etc. and smoked too much pot to the music of Doobie Bros (no pun intended), CSN&Y, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney/Wings, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Bob Seger, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor, the Eagles, more Motown, etc. So much great music has followed, and I'm still drawn to the pop/rock/sometimes-a-little-country genres whatever the decade.
I sing--2nd Soprano/Alto to be exact--I have a great ear and am good at harmonies. My skill level is not professional, but is above average. I don't know theory, but learn by ear. I sang in the coffee-houses of the East Bay in my 20's, then adulthood took over, as did a career. (Both necessary, both a tad overrated.) I've sung with choirs through the years and have done a little performing with a small local band, but not too much to speak of.
At this juncture, I'm hoping to connect with a skilled acoustic guitarist who can vocally hold his own. I don't have grand aspirations. I don't want to play the Greek Theater. If we click, feel well-matched, in sync, and more than anything, are having fun!, I'd like to participate in steady, perhaps weekly rehearsals, develop a better-than-decent sound, some tight harmonies and maybe play at small, low-key venues (including, but not limited to your sister's 60th birthday backyard BBQ). If we decide to add other musicians, great.
These are my free-floating thoughts and desires. I'm interested in hearing yours. If enough of this resonates, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading.
