Description
Sadly, we are having to rehome this little guy. He goes by Scout. He is a German Shephard/Terrior mix. He is APPROX. 8-9 months old. ***He comes with EVERYTHING he needs to get started with a good puppy life!!! (See info throughout post and some pics for all items included with him-we spoiled him!) We have had him for 3 days (today Nov. 10th is day 4) after getting him for my disabled husband so he could be trained as an ESA/service dog. Unfortunately, this little guy just has WAY too much energy and is VERY scared of my husbands walker and wheelchair and will not go anywhere near him while he's using it, which is a MUST in order for us to keep him. So, that's why we are having to re-home him He is VERY playful, loving, and really likes to cuddle (once you rub his belly to settle him). He does *NOT* bark, though he does whine a bit, but not often. He knows the command "come" if you say his name and say come. He eats very well, but eats and drinks really fast! But he is NOT an over-eater. After first getting him home, I put 2 cups dry food in a bowl and he ate about 1 cup of it. He went back a few times over the next hour to finish the rest. He comes with an almost full bag of Kibbles & Bits Bistro "mini bits" (smaller food pieces for smaller dogs. He would have got puppy chow, but 3 stores were out of ANY puppy chow, so this was the next best thing), he also comes with 6 cans of reduced sodium vienna sausages (read bottom of poat for sausage reason info) and 6 assorted cans of Ol' Roy wet food. At night we've been putting him in his crate (which comes with him, along with a nice fluffy and soft crate bed and a fluffy soft hospital blanket). We've been putting him in his crate to sleep for a 1 hr day nap and at night over-night until he can be fully house potty trained. With that, he is ***NOT*** house potty trained!!! I've been working with him all day, every day to use his XXL puppy pads (they are 4x's the size of my foot-and I'm a size 7 women's shoe). He has used them a few times, but has also had a few oopsies on the floor "next" to the pads. He will come with a HUGE box of pads (had 100 in it when I bought it, we've used approx 10 of them). He will definitely need a lot of work on pad training, or he will need to be an outside dog. He LOVES to be outside, he actually scratches at our sliding glass door to go out. He likes to walk and run (I can't run fast, but I can jog with him), he likes walks around the neighborhood, he also likes to just sit and observe passer-by's and cars. He LOVES to play with toys and has quickly learned how to make one of them squeek (which he finds facinating and does puppy head twists when he hears it squeek). He comes with 2 fetch tennis balls (which he likes to push around with his nose), a small squeeky and crinkle furry toy, a big rope, which he loves to chew and toss around-he hasn't quite got the "tug" part down yet, but we've been working with him on that. After a few days, the daughter of lady we got him from reached out to us for an update on his first few days/nights at home (as she asked us if she could do), we were told that she is glad he is happy here because "he needed a better life". I asked her what she meant...I was then informed he has NEVER been an inside doggy (I was lead to believe differently in 2 different conversations). Before getting him we were also told all he was ever fed was canned vienna sausages, that he NEVER ate dog food. So, that's why he comes with some cans of sausages along with his wet and dry food, so he could be weened off the sausages slowly at the same time feeding him doggy food, so he could transition to dog food only. ***We REALLY hate to re-home him because he really is a good doggy, but he's just hyper and WAY too scared of hubby's walker and wheelchair. Along with other stuff I've already mentioned, he also comes with his new Blue collar and matching leash, 2 different baby yoda neck bandanas, 2 different fleece (bottom belly velcrow) jackets, a big bottle of oatmeal doggy shampoo (stores were out of the "puppy" shampoo). ***He also comes with a 4 month (4 tubes)supply of Advecta Ultra flea/tick/chewing lice liquid applications. He had a lot of fleas when we brought him home; however, he's had 2 dawn soap and oatmeal shampoo baths EVERY day for the last 3 days and I have only seen 2 fleas on him this morning for his morning check, I have not given him his daily dawn soap bath yet, but I will do that later. I have not applied the med to him yet because I wanted him free of fleas at application time. ****He also comes with a 2 pack of chewable 7 way de-wormer/worm preventative medication. He does **NOT** have worms, we got this as a preventative measure since he is a puppy. He is intact and will need to be fixed and he has never been given his shots (I had that appointment set up for Dec. 3rd with the vet). ***We are not sure if he is good with other dogs as we've not had the chance to introduce him to any. He is scared of cats, and will run from them (I have my own ESA kitty) they have continously been tested! You will have to come to our apartment to meet him, we will NOT just meet you somewhere and hand him over! We want you to see him and like him, not just take him cause he's a free puppy!!! He's a big lover and wants lots of attention, so please, serious inquires only! We live in Richmond (40475) off N.
