The "elements" like wind, rain and snow can turn a survival situation into a deadly situation in minutes. In WNC, it is more common for people to get hypothermia in the Summer and than it is in the Winter. Do not underestimate temperature changes in the mountains. You will learn the five W's and two S's (5 Wss) that will aid you in selecting your location to shelter up and bed down. We will discuss and demonstrate how convection ad conduction are crucial concepts to understand and apply.
