Taste through a selection of 150 hand-selected wines by Sommelier Zach Cherry. All net proceeds benefit the Rescue K-911 Foundation. Rundown on the event: First off, there's a website to help break it down more, but if you're here...it might have been from the website. The website is appellationkc.com and links back to this event as well. So no need to go down that infinite rabbit hole of site linking to site if you've already been there. So what is the event? It's a tasting on July 17th (Saturday) 2021 at Fiorella's Event Space (click for link to their website) that will have 150+ different wines from all around the world for tasting, selected by a guy who is probably a little bit too into wine. All net proceeds will benefit the Rescue K-911 Foundation. It's a no-kill, foster animal rescue foundation that takes a bit more of a gentle approach and rehabilitates pets instead of tossing animals in tiny kennels until someone hopefully shows up. There will be passed and light apps if you need something to nibble on, and Fiorella's will have a cash bar if you want something a bit different. There'll be a bit of wine, but sometimes a person needs a Gin & Tonic and anything purchased at the cash bar also helps pay for the event (yeah, food wine and space are surprisingly not free...). This leaves more to go to a great cause. It'll start at 2:00PM and end at 5:00PM, and I highly suggest being there at the beginning. People will flock to the most popular wines, but with this many options, take your time. The week before the event, I'll be posting the full lineup if you want to plan out your approach. Also, feel free to email me with any questions, as I'm doing this because I think it's fun (the wine part and the helping dogs part...not the logistics...that has been educational). VIP, what's that entail? A bit earlier access if you like to be an early bird, but it's really all about the VIP room. Heck, you could be fashionably late too, but why wait? There'll be some top tier special selections there that are exclusive to VIP ticket holders. Also, super-sweet VIP wristbands that tell everyone that you get to do awesome things and are important. Some higher tier apps, too, but we all know you're here for the wine! Raffle items & auctions! Might as well get some swag while you're sipping. This is a benefit event for the Rescue K-911 Foundation, helping pets recover and find homes. So all charity and raffle proceeds will help out a great cause. I'll be posting contributors (with their consent) on the site and social media, along with some swag that we're getting. Why are you making such an unbelievably awesome event that we simply can't say no to? Glad you asked, person I want to be best friends with! I just want people to enjoy my favorite pastime the same way I do and give a big shortcut by selecting the wines that will excite and please palates without having to swim through the swill. The main goal is doing something simultaneously interesting in its substance and also making a positive impact in the community. So, making it a benefit to make make an event good (wine tasting) become something great (helping pets in need find homes). Besides our children, the best additions to our family have been our two dogs, both of whom came from a very bad situation and desperately needed a permanent home with a loving family. After adopting them, I can't imagine it going any better. After talking to the people behind Rescue K-911 (see the cute collage!), I realized how much support they could use. Medical bills to get rescue dogs healthy, immunized and ready for their future home aren't cheap. So all net proceeds of this event will be donated to this excellent cause. We will also be having raffles and auctions on fun, unique and rare items to help benefit the foundation. About the Foundation: "Rescue K-911 sprang from one woman's desire and passion to help animals in need. She started small, only being able to save a few animals at a time. Her favorites were/are the scared dogs hiding in a cage that never get a second glance. Bringing them into her home, showing them that they can trust and be loved, and witnessing their amazing transformations only added fuel to her fire! As her passion spread to others, they joined in her plight and the number of lives saved started to grow. With the dedication of fosters and volunteers, the non-profit has continued to steadily prosper, and each passing year, we save more! Rescue K-911 believes that no matter what their size, shape, or story, all animals deserve the chance to live long, happy, and healthy lives. That’s why we work hard every day to be a lifeline to a better future for these pets. Because we know that with a little support, people and pets can build a bond unlike any other, creating happier lives for all involved. We know that each animal and family are unique and we pride ourselves on finding the right fit for the animal and the family! Currently, Rescue K-911 is entirely foster based and volunteer run. Without the kindness and generosity of others, we would not be able to sustain our life-saving mission. Adoption fees for animals cover the standard care we provide each animal; vaccinations, prevention, spay/neuter, and microchips. Fundraisers like this one help cover the costs associated with unexpected medical costs when we take in a sick animal; labs, medications, dental surgeries, hospitalizations, etc. Those are the animals that need your help the most!"
