What would ultimately become the Dane County Regional Airport began a century ago, receiving its first cabin airplane in 1927. The airport has come a long way since that five-seat passenger plane, expanding to service 1.9 million passengers annually, provide approximately 4,000 jobs, and generate an economic impact of more than $600 million each year. The airport continues to propel itself into the future breaking ground on a 90,000-square-foot-addition that will pave way for more flights and more passengers. On Dec. 7, Airport Director Kimberly Jones will offer insight into the Dane County Regional Airport’s history, its impact on the local economy, and the $85 million expansion now underway.
