Has life been feeling like a slog lately? As we enter the darkest part of the year, how can we make meaning out of our messes? Whether it's personal or systemic weight pulling us down, we don't have to merely survive our struggle alone. Join our Althea community as we anchor in our awesomeness by leaning into the current challenge(s) we're presented with. We were made for this moment. Fill out this New Member Interest Form Guest Speaker: Katherine Newell Katherine Newell is the candidate for Althea's next Spiritual Director as chosen by the Board of Trustees. Voting by Althea members to ratify her as the next Spiritual Director has begun and will conclude on November 21st with an in-person voting following the Sunday service. She is an interspiritual minister and transformation specialist dedicated to serving human beings seeking awakening and alignment. As CEO and Founder of The Faith Space, she provides personal and organizational development for leaders in ministerial, tech, business, public service, education, and nonprofit sectors. With a Masters in Divinity from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University, her background is steeped in holistic healing, visioning, rituals, conflict management, and facilitation. She has previously served as a hospital trauma chaplain, legislative chief of staff, and community collaborator. Katherine currently works with revolutionary leaders to foster empathy-building, social justice, and holistic integration of change. Her mission and methods cultivate a more peaceful, equitable, and sustainable world. Guest Musician: Gonzalo Teppa, Bassist Gonzalo is a Jazz / Classical Musician, Bass player Composer, Educator, and 2 time Latin Grammy Nominee for “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album” and “Best Latin Jazz Album”, for work on the recordings “Tiempo” by Linda Briceño; and “3rd Element” by Luisito Quintero. He was named “Best Jazz Soloist” by Downbeat Magazine in 2004, 2005, and 2006. He received “Best Jazz Soloist” award at the Greeley Jazz Festival in 2004 and 2005., and has performed with: Wynton Marsalis, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Matt Wilson, Ed Simon, Chris Potter, Tom Harrell, Ron Miles, Art Lande, Slide Hampton, Don Byron, Jeremy Pelt, Ben Goldberg, and others. Sunday lunches have been postponed until further notice. Coffee and Tea may be enjoyed outdoors after service. While each Althean may have opinions about the current state of the pandemic, let us do our very best to keep our thoughts, feelings, and prayers focused positively and with love and compassion for each other, the ill and their families, and those working tirelessly day after day to care for people who are sick. The board made these decisions with a safety of everyone's Health utmost in our minds, and we will continue to modify our policies based on regional and national recommendations.
